International Bagpipe Conference

Dear Bagpipe friends,

The seventh edition of the International Bagpipe Conference will be held in Eastern Europe for the first time, reaching piping communities that might not have been able to attend their events in the past. The International Bagpipe Organisation is collaborating with the Bulgarian National Bagpipe Association (BNBA), which has organised many events and has a large membership base in Bulgaria.

We all know Bulgaria as one of the most prominent bagpipe countries in the world. Plovdiv is home to the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts, where the conference will be held. It is the alma mater of some of Bulgaria’s most prominent musicians, including the internationally renowned Ivan Georgiev who will be playing and presenting at the conference. Plovdiv is also known for being one of the oldest cities in Europe, with historical sites dotted around the city, including a Roman theatre which is just behind the Academy where the conference will be taking place.
