Welcome to another edition of Chanter. If you’re reading this, there is a good chance that you’re a member of The Bagpipe Society. I’m sure there are multitudinous reasons why over 350 of you have joined the Society but, one thing is for sure, there is comfort in the company of people who share a common interest. As players and fans of an instrument that is often caricatured and the butt of jokes, we definitely need our fellow lovers of the pipes around us. A theme that has emerged from this edition (unplanned, yet again), is ‘gathering’ or ‘meeting’. By meeting other players, enthusiasts, teachers, etc. we can all learn more about the instrument that we love in a way that is difficult to do in isolation.
